4.5 Cranky Stars

Alace Sweets is the child of a hooker and grew up in a motel room. She didn’t have a life most envied but it was her life and it taught her how to live until the unthinkable happened. When those monsters didn’t pay for their crimes she started a new life. Alace wasn’t always a vigilante killer, even though she hated that word. She felt she had to right the wrongs of the justice system. Armed with new identities from her “handler” Regg she set out to right the wrongs. She didn’t expect to meet the handsome Eric nor did she expect the ultimate betrayal.

Eric was a lawyer but when he met Alace, who at the time her name was Querida, he dug into her background because something didn’t add up. Flash forward a few years and he’s hot on her trail and they finally meet. He learns small things about Alace including her real name but little did he know he’d fall in love with her. Now they are trying to make a life for themselves while he knows her darkest secrets.

This book was gory at times. I cringed often because hey murder isn’t pretty and neither is some of these crimes these jerks pulled. I could understand why Alace was how she was but I started to wonder when she would notice she was having her strings pulled. She thought she was in control but truly she wasn’t. It’s not all vengeance and gore and death there is an underlying romance under it all. It shows that love knows no boundaries. I really liked this book and would recommend it to people who love a good dark romance with some gory elements.
